Break out your jellies, spandex and acid wash jeans! We’re celebrating summer ’80s-style at the Polk Museum of Art with a throwback one-night art camp for adults.

Art+Summer will be Friday, June 19, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Museum. Tickets are $10 for Polk Museum of Art members and $15 for non-members. The best hits of the decade will be spinning while you make some of your favorite crafts from summer camp — friendship bracelets, anyone? Enjoy delicious munchies and frozen treats, and grab beer, wine or summer beer from the cash bar. You can also take in the latest exhibition, African-American Art Since 1950: Perspectives from the David C. Driskell Center, before it closes. It will be totally rad!

The Art+ series is organized by The Graces, a new group of young women interested in sharing their time and talents with the Museum. Art+Summer is sponsored by Dex Imaging, MIDFLORIDA, Publix Super Markets Charities and Southern Homes, with additional support provided by Joy Williams.

Note: Mad props to Sandy Horan of Polk Museum of Art for writing this awesome post and allowing us to remember the days of jellies, Keds, scrunchies and Caboodles. Hope I can find Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Back to the Future on Netflix this weekend.
