Polk’s Nature Discovery Center at Circle B Bar Reserve offers a variety of nature based activities for all ages.

You don't want to miss out on any of the fun family-friendly activities that Circle B Bar Reserve has planned this month. Sign up for a tram tour, a workshop or just get outdoors and enjoy Polk’s water, wildlife, and wilderness. 

Trails at Circle B are open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Invasive Plant Removal

Come and make a difference by removing the invasive species Caesar weed. Bring your favorite pair of gloves, some water and plan to spend a couple of hours or as long as you can last – removing the Caesar weed. The work that has been done already is changing the landscape at the Reserve and staff needs a couple more hands to keep pushing forward.

Hilochee Wildlife Management Area Presentation

  • Thursday, March 9 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. 

Presented by Mike Blondin, Fisheries and Wildlife Biologist III, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and brought to Circle B by Sierra Club.

Come learn about all that the Hilochee Wildlife Management Area (WMA) has to offer. Property attributes, recreational uses, management and plans for the future will be included.  Deer, foxes, rabbits and alligators as well as many bird species from Bald Eagles to American kestrels to hummingbirds can be seen from numerous hiking trails. There are five trailheads (one each in Davenport, Polk City, and Lake Alfred and two in Haines City) that provide access.

Program starts at 7:00 p.m. and the covered dish dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. (if you wish to participate, please bring a dish to share, and bring your own drink and utensils).  Bring a flashlight for the parking lot.

Sierra Club Planting – Open to the Public

Contribute to our jewel of Nature Education, the Nature Discovery Center, at Circle B Bar Reserve.  This outing we are beautifying the grounds by planting different native plants.  You'll learn about native plants and enjoy the company of like-minded people. Astronomy Night

Have scientists found any planets outside our solar system (called exoplanets)?  How do we find them?  What might they look like? And what about Planet X?  We’ll also be viewing Venus, Mars and Jupiter; the Orion Nebula; the Virgo galaxy cluster and star clusters.  Telescopes will be onsite to use, or bring your own.
