Explorations V Children's Museum's newest traveling exhibit, Curious George™: Let's Get Curious!, will take over most of the Museum's first and second floors, creating a world of playful adventures for visitors.
Exhibit Premiere and Ribbon Cutting
The Curious George™: Let's Get Curious! Premiere will be held on Tuesday, February 2, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Exhibit sponsors and Curious George enthusiasts are invited to witness the ribbon cutting, have a taste of Curious George's favorite banana snacks, and be among the first in Lakeland to enjoy the exhibit.
Admission to the Premiere is included with a Museum membership and is $4.50 for visitors arriving after 3:30 p.m.
Exhibit Grand Opening
Curious George himself will make his first appearance at Explorations V Children's Museum appearance during the Grand Opening event on Sunday, February 7, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. The event will feature a visit from a Disney's Animal Kingdom zoologist to explain the truth behind Curious George's curiosity and will conclude with the Yellow Hat Kazoo Parade. Art and science activities will be provided throughout the Museum.
The Grand Opening event is included with a Museum membership or the $9.00 per person daily admission fee. Children under two are free. Visitors wearing a yellow shirt at the Grand Opening event will receive $1.00 off admission.
Within the exhibit at Explorations V Children's Museum, visitors will enjoy exploring alongside Curious George as he playfully guides them through his neighborhood and blasts with them into outer space! Features inside the exhibit include:
Operate wheels to move George on pulleys from window to window. Enter the apartment to play with color, light and shadow.
Sidewalk Produce Stand
Play customer or salesperson and explore shapes, sorting, weighing and counting with fruit and vegetables.
Design a building, make use of a bounty of building materials, and get to work constructing different structures and using machines to move materials.
Enjoy the urban green space: rest or give a hug to a full-size George and take a picture!
Use pipes, ramps, funnels, turntables, bumpers and force to experiment with physics and engineering as you putt through three holes of mini golf.
Step up to the rocket Curious George took on his space adventure! Pose for a picture with George in his space suit and e-mail it home.
Take a vacation to the country and visit the farm. Experience cause and effect and use wind power to move yard art like whirligigs, windmills, windsocks, and wind chimes. Build your own whirligig and care for the farm animals.
Museum Within the Museum
Learn new things about George when you visit the Museum within the Museum. Follow H.A. and Margret Rey’s work, the escape from France to safety during World War II that saved the Curious George manuscript, and Curious George throughout the years.
The museum's youngest visitors will enjoy our busy wall activities for babies and toddlers.
Explorations V Children’s Museum is located at 109 North Kentucky Avenue in Lakeland. Hours are Monday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Admission is $9.00 per person. Senior citizens 65+ are $4.50. Military and teachers with valid ID are $4.50. Children under two are free.
