Polk’s Nature Discovery Center at Circle B Bar Reserve offers a variety of nature based activities for all ages. Circle B is a must see attraction for nature lovers planning, or currently enjoying, a Central Florida vacation. You do not want to miss out on any of their fun, family-friendly activities.

Polk’s Nature Discovery Center will be closed December 23rd-26th and January 1st; the trails will remain open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Portable restrooms are available near the parking lot.

Lake Region Audubon Hike

Requires sign up.  Come and make a difference by removing the invasive species Caesar weed. Bring your favorite pair of gloves, and some water and plan to spend a couple of hours or as long as you can last – removing the Caesar weed. The work that has been done already is changing the landscape at the Reserve and the group needs a couple of more hands to keep pushing forward.

Sierra Club Planting – OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Contribute to our jewel of Nature Education, the Nature Discovery Center, at Circle B Bar Reserve.  During this outing the group will be beautifying the grounds by planting native trees such as green ash.  Participants learn about native plants and enjoy the company of like-minded people. Astronomy Night

Saturday, December 17, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. 

This month's topic:  Messier objects.  These are the deep space objects observed and cataloged by the French astronomer, Charles Messier in the mid to late 1700's.  A presentation will include a biography on Messier and his catalog, including pictures of the objects he cataloged.  After the presentation, look at some of his cataloged objects with our telescopes. The presentation starts at 7:00 p.m. (rain or shine).  With sunset being early, solar scopes will be set up before the presentation, giving us a little time for observing the Sun before the presentation.

New Year's Day Here’s to Your Health Hike

Sunday, January 1, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. 

Come join Commissioner Lindsey, for a hike around Circle B Bar Reserve.  The hike starts at Polk’s Nature Discovery Center and is approximately 2 ½ miles in length.  Volunteers and staff along the hiking trail will point out some beautiful aspects of nature.  Start the New Year off right, by unplugging from electronics and reconnecting with nature.
