Polk’s Nature Discovery Center at Circle B Bar Reserve offers a variety of nature based activities for all ages. Circle B is a must see attraction for nature lovers planning, or currently enjoying, a Central Florida vacation. You do not want to miss out on any of their fun, family-friendly activities.

Polk’s Nature Discovery Center will be closed December 23rd - 26th and December 30th - January 1st; the trails will remain open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Portable restrooms are available near the parking lot.

Nature Tour sign ups begin on the first working day of each month, to sign up please stop by the reception desk or call 863-668-4673 ext. 205.

Lake Region Audubon Hike

Environmental Lands Excursions-Gator Creek Reserve

Saturday, December 2 from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Polk’s Nature Discovery Center, the Environmental Lands Program will be providing FREE excursions to different Environmental Lands sites around Polk County each month.  The first event is scheduled for Saturday, December 2.  Registered participants will participate in a guided bird hike – you may choose to hike or bring your horse to attend – at Gator Creek Reserve in North Lakeland.

Eagle Nest Tour (Electric Tram Tour)

Requires sign up.  Take a personalized tour of an active bald eagle nest on our property.  Observe the bald eagle pair maintain the (queen-sized bed) nest, seek and hunt for food, and protect the nests from other flying birds. Limit 9 people.

Invasive Plant Removal

  • Wednesday, December 6 from 8:15 a.m. – 10:00 am 

Come and make a difference by removing the invasive species Caesar weed. Bring your favorite pair of gloves, and some water and plan to spend a couple of hours or as long as you can last – removing the Caesar weed. The work that has been done already is changing the landscape at the Reserve and the group needs a couple of more hands to keep pushing forward.

New Year's Day Here’s to Your Health Hike

Monday, January 1 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. 

Come join Commissioner Lindsey, for a hike around Circle B Bar Reserve.  The hike starts at Polk’s Nature Discovery Center and is approximately 2 ½ miles in length.  Volunteers and staff along the hiking trail will point out some beautiful aspects of nature.  Start the New Year off right, by unplugging from electronics and reconnecting with nature.
