Polk Museum of Art blends art, food and an outdoor festival during two upcoming events, Art+Food and Art Crawl.
Plan to enjoy the flavors of Italy at Art+Food from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., on Friday, November 13. You’re invited to sample fine Italian flavors from local restaurants and cast a vote for the winner of the second Art+Food Challenge. Enjoy live music by Chad Kostella while perusing the latest exhibition, “An American in Venice: James McNeill Whistler and His Legacy.” At the cash bar, you can choose from a bellini, craft beer or a glass of smooth red wine. Tickets are $15.00.
Plan to return the following morning for Art Crawl, Polk Museum of Art’s fall outdoor art festival highlighting emerging and innovative artists living in and around Central Florida. A juried art show will feature about 40 artists from a wide range of visual art media. They will sell most of their artwork for $350 or less, so that attendees who want to support local and emerging artists will find very affordable pieces for sale. Art Crawl will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 14, in the Museum parking lot. Admission is free.
In addition, the festival will include live music, food trucks, art demonstrations and booths from other arts organizations. Bands scheduled to play are MrENC & Bump Galletta, DieAlps!, Meat Goats and Fount.
Nomad Studio’s art bus, an outreach program, will be onsite to talk about their programs and allow people to paint their bus. Ink Screen Printing will be printing T-shirts. Demonstrations will include “explosionism” art by Drew Lausman, who uses fireworks to paint, and a mural project by Kimberly Wyant of KRaP Art Studio.
