Beneath the Crown

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

When the spotlight and sparkles fade, what remains beneath the crown? Join the Lake Wales Arts Council on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. to find out.

Polk State College is delighted to present a showing of "Beneath the Crown," the story of Miss USA 1967 and Miss Universe 1967, Ms. Sylvia Hitchcock Carson. The film was directed by Susan Gallagher Jahna and Dr. Lisa Mills.

Sylvia was one of only eight women in the world to hold the titles of Miss USA and Miss Universe. Much of Sylvia's memorabilia will be on display at the Lake Wales Arts Center, and possibly even the crown itself.

A brief question and answer session will follow the screening of the film, as well as a reception in Updike Hall. It will be a night you won't want to miss. Wear your sparkles for Sylvia.
