Experience an al fresco evening in the Gardens with the sultry sounds of The Tizer Quartet while sampling a New Orleans inspired culinary treats by Chef Lo of Millennia Catering. Beer and wine is also included, served by the Gardens own Blue Palmetto Café. The evening will be the first major public event in the Outdoor Kitchen. Reservations are required.
The Tizer Quartet is driven by an explosive mix of jazz, rock, classical, jam band influences and Afro Cuban and world rhythms. Don’t miss this multi-cultural band led by keyboardist/composer Lao Tizer, with Ric Fierabracci playing bass, Gene Coye on the drums and Steve Nieves playing the sax, along with percussion and vocals.
The Cajun menu will feature deep fried okra and catfish, spicy dirty rice, grilled sausage, new potato and corn boil, vegetable Ratatouille in a tomato Creole fondue, beignets over crushed berries and fresh fruit.
Guests may enter the Kitchen at 6 p.m. and must present a ticket for entry.

Lake Flato Architects of San Antonio has designed an inviting outdoor open kitchen space in harmony with the landscape of Bok Tower Gardens. Edible display gardens surrounding the kitchen are a welcoming destination for educational activities and events showcasing lifestyle gardening and the culinary arts.
