Harrison School for the Arts Creative Writing Reading

Harrison School for the Arts Creative Writing program presents Poets of Color: A Celebration of Hip-Hop Poetics. Join us on Thursday, February 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Film Theatre for an evening of poetry that, as poet Kevin Coval says in his introduction for 2016’s The BreakBeat Poets anthology, represents “a break from the wack. A break from the hidden and precious, the elite and esteemed. A break from pejorative notions about what constitutes art, who it’s for and by and why.”

This should prove to be a fresh and exciting event that will, hopefully, set the bar a bit higher for readings to come. The cover of our newly rebranded lit mag, which will now be known as “MAGNETIC: a literary journal” will be unveiled at the reading and available for pre-order alongside a new, student designed department pocket t-shirt. The magazine and shirt will be released simultaneously at the MAGNETIC launch party on May 2nd.
