ISO presents Mike Block & Hanneke Cassel

Grammy Award-winning cellist Mike Block and Celtic fiddler Hanneke Cassel bring their talents to Lakeland for an intimate performance during LkldLive at Studio B. Through the ISO’s Beth Mason Young Artists Endowment Fund, proceeds from the evening will create scholarships for both the Mike Block String Camp and the Florida Southern College String Camp.
Block is a multi-style cellist, singer, composer and educator who founded Mike Block String Camp in 2010. While still studying at the Julliard School, he joined Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, toured extensively throughout the world and won a 2017 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.
Cassel is a Boston-based performer, teacher and composer who started at a Texas-style fiddler and went on to win the 1997 US National Scottish Fiddle Championship.
The Imperial Symphony Orchestra, a community orchestra is comprised of 80 volunteer musicians, who have made it their mission to entertain, educate and inspire audiences through enlightening performances of symphonic music. The orchestra presents a number of concerts each year, primarily at the RP Funding Center, but also at other venues throughout the area.
