ISO presents Mike Block & Hanneke Cassel

Mar 28, 2018
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Grammy Award-winning cellist Mike Block and Celtic fiddler Hanneke Cassel bring their talents to Lakeland for an intimate performance during LkldLive at Studio B. Through the ISO’s Beth Mason Young Artists Endowment Fund, proceeds from the evening will create scholarships for both the Mike Block String Camp and the Florida Southern College String Camp.

Block is a multi-style cellist, singer, composer and educator who founded Mike Block String Camp in 2010. While still studying at the Julliard School, he joined Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, toured extensively throughout the world and won a 2017 Grammy Award for Best World Music Album.

Cassel is a Boston-based performer, teacher and composer who started at a Texas-style fiddler and went on to win the 1997 US National Scottish Fiddle Championship.

For more than 50 years, the Imperial Symphony Orchestra has been educating, entertaining and inspiring audiences with symphonic music. As Polk County’s professional orchestra, the ISO is the orchestra in residence at the RP Funding Center and Florida Southern College and performs at venues throughout the area.
