Brews, Wine and Entertainment
Central Florida’s Polk County offers an abundance of activities during the day and in the evening. Our downtowns can be the perfect gathering place to meet up with friends, or make new ones, and our lakeside restaurants and bars offer spectacular views at sunset.
Lakeland is a college town, home to Florida Southern College and Southeastern University, and visitors can indulge in great food, craft brews, fine wine, and live entertainment.
Other notable hotspots include:
As the city lights come up each night in Winter Haven, visitors have the option of hanging out with friends in the trendy downtown area. After dining at Arabellas Ristorante, Fire Restaurant or Thai Haven, grab drinks at Ave Bar, Jensen’s Corner Bar or Central Tavern.
If craft beer is your thing, Grove Roots Brewing Co. might become your favorite brewery in Central Florida. Inspired by the traditions and tastes of Central Florida’s citrus past, Grove Roots serves up four flagship beers: Slanted Ladders White Pale Ale, Wakes of Grain Amber Ale, Rind & Shine Citrus Witbier, and 6am Pickers Breakfast Coffee Stout. They also have seasonal offerings, live-bands, food trucks, lawn games, plus board and card games.
If lakefront dining is what you’re looking for, Harborside Restaurant on Lake Ship serves fresh seafood and steaks, and has a lower-level waterside bar. Tanner’s Lakeside on Lake May is a popular hangout for locals. They serve great food and have an outdoor tiki deck that’s open “really late” on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tanner’s is also within walking distance of Old Man Frank's – an old-school bar on Lake Howard.
We’re looking forward to the opening of Grove Roots Brewing Co. in July/August 2016.
