Polk County has a farmers market that’s not on Saturday mornings! The Dixie Twilight Farmers Market is held in the Dixieland Village parking lot, and is open every Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Offerings include local produce, plants and flowers, herbs, loose organic tea, honey, food, local art and more.
News of this market was music to our ears for more reasons than one. We love farmers markets, but sometimes – well, most of the time - we like to sleep in on Saturday mornings. This market solves that problem and then some, as it is steps from two of our favorite hangouts: Concord Coffee and Fat Maggie’s. There is also the fact that it offers much more than fresh produce.
Love at First Twilight
The Twilight Market debuted in Spring 2015 and our first visit was shortly thereafter. Visitors will find fresh produce, unique products, and friendly vendors. Because it opens at 4:00 p.m., the weather just gets better and better as the sun goes down over this quaint little market.
A Few of Our Favorite Things
Aside from all of the fresh produce, some of our favorite finds at the market included bundles of 12 stem white Phalaenopsis orchids from Tropical Gardens for – get this – $10, vine and air plant wreaths from the Inspire Seeds booth, homemade pet and beer soaps from Urban Soapworks, cereal killer spoons from KrAP ART, and gourmet sea salts from Natural Vibes for Life.
Rotating vendors include:
A Kind Place, AquaOrganics, Barefoot Farms, Becky’s Hot Dogs, Bryan’s Swings & Things, Butterfly Bistro, Erendira’s Produce, Inspire Seeds, KrAP ART, LifeGarden (peppers), 2Popes Pepper Sauce, PopPa’s Kettle Korn, Red Roof Farms (honey), SAY CHEESE, Taste of Earth (loose teas), The Pink Piano (live Blues’ music), Tropical Gardens (orchids and plants), Two Ladies & A Hook, Urban Soapworks, Victor’s Table and Natural Vibes for Life (gourmet sea salt).
