Polk County Commissioner George Lindsey has been named chair of the county’s Tourist Development Council (TDC).
TDC Committee
In his first action as chair, Lindsey has appointed the following as committee chairs to the standing TDC committees. Winter Haven Mayor Brad Dantzler will remain as the TDC Board’s Vice Chair in addition to his new duties as Chair of the Arts and Culture Committee. Senior Vice President of the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce Jackie Johnson will remain as the TDC Marketing Committee Chair, while Detroit Tigers Director of Florida Operations Ron Myers will remain as TDC Sports Marketing Committee Chair.

The Tourist Development Council aims to maximize the economic benefits of tourism in the county. George Lindsey, first elected to the Polk County Board of County Commissioners in 2012, was re-elected without opposition in 2016. His focus on the board remains to bring new employers to the county while removing unneeded legislative barriers to help existing employers expand.
