Westgate River Ranch Resort
There is a solution to the woes of those who want to camp, but aren’t keen on bugs or lack of air conditioning and running water; it’s called glamping, and you can do it at Westgate River Ranch Resort just east of Lake Wales.
Primitive camping is one of life’s many wondrous experiences. It’s an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, and get a little – actually a lot – closer to nature. With that said, camping is not for everyone. If you are someone who wants to get closer to nature, but not at the expense of bugs, lack of air conditioning or running water, there is a camping option for you. It’s called glamping. Glamping, or glamorous camping, is all the rage now in Central Florida and you can experience this at Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo in Lake Wales.

Tent and Luxe Teepee Glamping
It’s camping with all of the stuff you ever wished primitive or regular tent camping could include:
Kids Love It! – There’s no reason to be intimidated by the thought of camping with kids on vacation when you choose to glamp at Westgate River Ranch Resort. The homey atmosphere of a tint situated on a platform with lights, real bedding, rugs, board games, a s’mores kit and front screened porch are comforting to even the most urban kids. And since you’re glamping at a resort, there are MANY activities to keep them occupied and having fun. It will be a vacation they won’t soon forget.
Air Conditioning – If you don’t like to sweat while you sleep, you are not alone. Lucky for you, glamping sites at River Ranch include air conditioning. It’s literally a “cool” experience.
There is a Bed – No one, especially adults – underestimates the value of rest on a mattress, but they are kind of cumbersome to drag through the woods on a camping excursion, so camping typically involves sleeping on a cot or in a sleeping bag on the cold damp ground. That simply isn’t the case with glamping. Each site has mattress and frame with bedding – real bedding!
Private Bath – You could be the type who wouldn’t mind bathing in a creek on a camping adventure, but if not, glamping is for you. Westgate River Ranch Resort’s glamping sites include a private with a locked bathroom facility and shower.
Mini Fridge – Because every now and again you have a midnight hankering for a soda or sandwich, okay, maybe you just want cold water.
Screened in Porch – We’ve never seen a tent for sale that included a porch, but Westgate River Ranch Resort’s glamping sites have them, and get this, they are screened in. That’s right, you can play chess, enjoy a meal or coffee on a screened in porch attached to your glamorous tent.
Campsite Camaraderie – Although it’s much more glamorous than its primitive form, glamping does share some similarities. Take for instance the campsite camaraderie. If you wish to do a little socializing during your Central Florida vacation, you can venture outside your tent and hang out around a community fire pit and tell scary ghost stories with new friends.
Resort Fun – Probably best of all is the fact that you are glamping at Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo, which means there’s lots of engaging activities for your entire family. Some of our favorites include horseback riding, archery, airboat tours, zip lining, swamp buggy rides and Saturday night rodeo.
We could go on and on about how much we love glamping, but we think you get the point: it’s a tent with some of your favorite home amenities.
