Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture

Whether you are an architectural aficionado, history buff or just a lover of interesting sights, you won’t regret exploring the world-renowned Frank Lloyd Wright Architecture collection at Florida Southern College.

“The Most Beautiful Campus in the Nation”

Once voted by The Princeton Review as “The Most Beautiful Campus in the Nation,” Florida Southern College is a National Historic Landmark, and home to Child of the Sun, the world’s largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Wright fans know just how big of a deal the campus is, and understand why hordes of his fans flock to it each year. But even those unfamiliar with his work cannot deny the beauty and rich history of the campus, and his 13 structures.

It's no wonder a tour of Florida Southern College finds a place on so many visitors' travel itineraries.

A Brief, Brief History

The story of how a Methodist college with no endowment - during the Great Depression and World War II - was able to not only convince one of the most sought after architects of the time to draw plans for their school, but was also able to afford to build them, is a wonderfully entertaining story.

Here’s a hint: A smooth talking principal lived by the saying “You never know if you don’t ask,” and when you’re a school, you pay workers with your greatest commodity: tuition.

The story is of course told much better by one of Florida Southern College’s experienced docents who lead tours daily.
