Die-hard aviation and aircraft enthusiasts will love Fantasy of Flight in Polk City. The Central Florida Museum features a sampling of the largest privately owned vintage aircraft collection in the world.
Aviation-Themed Attraction
Fantasy of Flight was founded by Kermit Weeks and originally opened as an aviation-themed Central Florida attraction in 1995. As the owner of the largest collection of privately owned vintage aircraft in the world, Weeks saw the attraction as an opportunity to share his love of aviation by opening his aircraft collection up to the public.
Fantasy of Flight Collection Museum
Today, a scaled down version of the Polk City museum is offered in the form of the Fantasy of Flight Collection Museum.
Fantasy of Flight does have a tour guide on duty, so anyone who are interested in learning more about the history of the planes can do so. What sets the Fantasy of Flight Collection apart from others aviation enthusiasts may encounter is that Kermit Weeks does not collect anything he doesn’t intend to fly. Most of the aircraft you encounter in the museum have been carefully restored to airworthiness.
Fantasy of Flight Gift Shop
Be sure to buy an aviation themed Central Florida vacation souvenir at the gift shop. Here you’ll find books authored by Weeks, collectibles and other aviation related items.
Seasonal Hours of Operation
The scaled down museum operates seasonally from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday from November to mid-April. Operating hours and dates are subject to change, so please call to verify before visiting.
