When Lakeland locals mourned the closing of Mario's on Edgewood Drive, Chef Glenn Scarpa took it upon himself to turn their frowns upside down. Together with his wife, Ashley, the couple opened a new restaurant in the same location, Scarpa's Italian. Having served as Chef at Mario's for 12 years, Glenn was well versed in the dishes that kept customers coming back time and again. He brought back some of these old favorites, and of course added his personal recipes to the delectably authentic Italian menu.
This authentic Italian restaurant provides an upscale experience that has been approved by the likes of Emeril Lagasse. BAM!

Elegantly Quaint Dining
The small dining room is cozy and intimate, but not at all cramped. Elegant décor, plush chairs and crisp white linens are indicative of the upscale dining experience that the Scarpa’s Italian are dedicated to providing each and every customer.
Scarpa’s Italian menu is simple: authentic, delicious Italian dishes. Appetizers (antipasti) selections include everything from traditional Eggplant Rollettini and bruschetta, to luxurious New Zealand mussels sautéed in a creamy white wine garlic sauce. Nothing beats their plate of Prosciutto di Parma with provolone cheese and oil cured olives. Yum!
Veal is an Italian staple, so there is of course an entire section of the menu dedicated to the specialty cut of meat. Choose from a juicy 14-ounce chop seared with a savory sage and mushroom sauce, to all the classic preparations of veal cutlets including Piccata, Marsala and Parmigiano.
And of course, no Italian restaurant would be complete without pasta. Scarpa's Italian has perfected all of the classics, paired with delicious homemade sauces like marinara, Bolognese, Alfredo, Pesto, and specialty sauces like the olive oil, shallots and caper blend that takes the basic Penne and Broccoli to a mouth-watering new level.
Chicken and Seafood
If you think you're limited to veal and pasta, think again. Scarpa's Italian also features a scrumptious selection of chicken and fresh seafood. This is where you’ll find classic favorites: Chicken Parmigiano, Marsala, Frances and Florentine; and Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Diablo, Lobster Ravioli, and Linguini with Clam Sauce. You'll also find specialty dishes like Tuscan Chicken, stuffed with prosciutto, provolone, and spinach; breaded and lightly fried with blackberry brandy glaze; and fresh Grouper, blackened, sautéed or glazed to your liking.
