Howard and Fatima Gill opened True Blue Winery - Polk County’s first winery - in 2012. Locals love sampling their blueberry wines at their bar just as much as they love their bistro meals. True Blue Winery’s bistro is closed during the summer (June 20 – September 30). But hey, the wait only makes the wine better, and the heart grow fonder.
If you’re looking for authentic brick oven pizza, blueberry picking or wine tasting in Central Florida, True Blue Winery is definitely worth checking out.
Wine and Dine in Davenport
Wood-Fired Brick Oven Pizza
When it comes to cooking a pizza the right way, a wood-fired brick oven is the best. Nothing compares to a wood fired pizza, and that’s just what you get at True Blue Winery: brick oven perfection.
Other menu notables: True Blue Winery’s pizza is delish, but it’s not your only option. Other notables on their limited menu that garner rave reviews are their wood-fired steaks and salmon. The chicken salad plate is also delicious. Fresh pulled chicken, pineapple, raisins and sliced almonds are served on a bed of fresh greens with crackers and fruit are a fresh lunchtime option.
A Working Blueberry Farm
One of our favorite aspects of True Blue Winery is the fact that this mom and pop dining spot is situated on a working blueberry farm. It’s a cozy, quaint and down to earth feeling you won’t find at any chain restaurant.
Indoor and Outdoor Dining at True Blue Winery
It’s always fun to have the option to dine indoors or outdoors when you are visiting an area known for its temperate weather. Outdoor dining gets you a fresh breeze on a pretty patio during the day and a romantic outdoor setting in the evenings. It’s also home to the wood-fire brick oven that gives their pizza, steak, and salmon the perfect flavor.
Indoor seating has its perks, too. Grab a seat at the bar or choose casual seating throughout. And don’t be shocked when your food comes out on a Styrofoam plate; it’s not the plate that matters it’s what’s on it. And trust us, you won’t be disappointed with your meal.
Annual Wine Festival
True Blue Winery’s Blueberry Festival is an annual tradition. Typically during spring, the festival includes a special bistro menu, your favorite house wines, local vendors and live music.
U-Pick Blueberry Season
True Blue Winery is a functioning blueberry farm, so you can expect the opportunity to pick your own blueberries on a visit during March and April. Keep in mind that U-pick season is dependent on the weather and the amount of fruit reserved after berries are selected for their wines and sold to manufacturers, so call ahead.
