Central Florida’s Visitor Information Center (formerly known as Polk Outpost 27) has been in the limelight recently. First with complementary features in both The Lakeland Ledger and Winter Haven News Chief and then with a follow-up letter to The Ledger’s editor from northern visitors.Dave and Judy Crocket, of Manistee, Michigan took The Ledger’s advice and paid a visit to the tourist center to learn more about Central Florida. They were so impressed with the center that they took the time to pen a nice letter about their experience.
The visitor center has embarked on a rebranding journey in recent months, with the name change and some interior redecorating, to refresh the center and establish a more recognizable identity to those not automatically familiar with Polk County and U.S. Highway 27. The Center is open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., seven days a week (excluding holidays), and is located at 101 Adventure Court in Davenport, 1/2 mile south of I-4 (along U.S. Highway 27) at Exit 55.
