Lakeland to Proclaim June 28-July 2 as Miss Florida Pageant Week

The City of Lakeland will proclaim June 28 – July 2 as Miss Florida Pageant week, in a ceremony at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at Lakeland City Hall (228 S. Massachusetts Ave., Lakeland) to commemorate the 81st Annual Miss Florida Pageant and Miss Florida’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, being held at The Lakeland Center’s Youkey Theatre June 28 through July 2. 

All 40 plus pageant contestants will be present, along with County Commissioner Todd Dantzler and additional City and County officials. Afterward, a group photo will be taken to celebrate the event.

The Miss Florida Pageant is a preliminary competition to the Miss America Pageant which is the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women and one of nation’s largest achievement programs. 

Forty-eight preliminary pageants have been held across the state since November, with the winners receiving a coveted invitation to compete for the Miss Florida Crown. 

The following are the local contestants that will compete in Lakeland, FL on June 28-July 2:

Courtney Jones of Lakeland, FL – Miss Largo

Siobhan Gale of Lakeland, FL – Miss Heart of Florida

Tickets for the preliminary competitions, and final rounds of the competition, are available at The Lakeland Center Box Office, by calling 863-834-8111, online at or by calling the 24-hour ticketing line 888-397-0100. 

Registration for Media Credentials for the 2016 Miss Florida Pageant is now open.  

Please RSVP to Kelly Rote or Al Snow with your title, media outlet represented, number of credentials requested and any special requests (photography credential, one-on-one interview requests, etc.) and your request will be confirmed. Credentials may be picked up on-site at the Lakeland Center during pageant week.
