The second night of preliminary competitions in the 81st Miss Florida Scholarship Pageant has concluded with two more winners being named in the Talent competition and the Lifestyle, Fitness and Swimsuit Competition. The 48 contestants are broken into three groups, with each group competing in a different preliminary competition each evening. This evening Group A competed in Evening Gown and On-Stage Question, Group B competed in Talent and Group C competed in the Lifestyle, Fitness and Swimsuit. The top 10 finalists from the preliminary rounds, along with an 11th “People’s Choice” competitor will, be announced at Saturday evening’s Pageant Finals. The 2017 Miss Florida will be named from one of these 11 contestants.
This year marks the first time in the event’s history the Pageant will be held in Lakeland, the Pageant’s new home. The Miss Florida Pageant is a preliminary competition to the Miss America Pageant which is the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women and one of nation’s largest achievement programs. This year’s pageant title will be contested by 48 participants from throughout the state, with the winner representing Florida at the 2016 Miss America Pageant. The Miss Florida’s Outstanding Teen program features young ladies between the ages of 13 and 17 competing for the honor of representing the Sunshine State at the 2017 Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando.
