Visitor Information Center Hosting Summer Travel Event

Polk County’s Official Visitor Information Center Will Host “Celebrate Summer” Day on June 11 in Davenport

Central Florida’s Visitor Information Center, the new home of the Florida Sports Hall of Fame Preview Center, will kick off the summer travel season with “Celebrate Summer” Day on Saturday, June 11, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Visitors and residents are invited to come and explore all that Central Florida has to offer in family fun and activities at this FREE, family-friendly event. There will be games, prize giveaways, bounce houses for kids, and booths and displays by LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, Bok Tower Gardens, Mulberry Phosphate Museum, the Bloodmobile and numerous craft and specialty vendors. 

Food will be available for purchase from local vendors, including Beef ‘O’ Brady’s. Both LEGOLAND Florida Resort and Bok Tower Gardens will feature special “Buy One, Get One Free” offers on tickets purchased during the event. 

Pro Football Hall of Famer Jack Youngblood, inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame in 1975, will sign autographs from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at the newly-opened center, located inside Central Florida’s Visitor Information Center. 

Youngblood, who was born in Jacksonville and grew up in Monticello, was an All-American at the University of Florida, where he was one of the greatest Gators of all-time and one of only five players to be named to the Gator Ring of Honor.  He went on to a 14-year NFL career with the Los Angeles Rams in which he was selected consensus All-Pro five times and played in seven Pro Bowls. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001.

Youngblood served for a time as general manager of the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League and won a league championship in 1998. He remains active in the Orlando Community and nationwide.

Central Florida’s Visitor Information Center, which sells discounted attraction tickets for many Central Florida attractions (including LEGOLAND Florida Resort), is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week and is located at 101 Adventure Court in Davenport (along U.S. Highway 27), a half-mile south of I-4 at Exit 55.
