Central Florida is one of the top destinations for a fun, family-friendly vacation (yes that includes your pets). With so many different offerings from dog friendly restaurants to gardens and state parks, there is always something to do that includes the WHOLE family.
1. Bonnet Springs Park
The fabulous new Bonnet Springs Park is the ultimate destination for your dog. Over 180 acres of beautifully maintained park with plenty of amenities for your dog. Good doggies can also ride the free tram!
2. Lakeland’s Downtown Farmers Curb Market
If you’re a dog lover, Lakeland’s Downtown Farmers Curb Market is the place for you. You are sure to spot so many different breeds on any given Saturday and can even pick up something new for your pup. With local vendors selling collars, leashes, bandanas, treats and more, this local market is the perfect weekend activity for you and your floofy friend! This pet-friendly market is in Downtown Lakeland, every Saturday from 8am-2pm.
3. Grove Roots Brewing Co.
This 5,600-square-foot brewery features a dog-friendly and kid-friendly 100-seat tasting room, 10-barrel brew house and a outdoor biergarten where patrons can enjoy food trucks and lawn games. You can expect live music every Friday and Saturday night at Grove Roots Brewing Co. as well a series of regular events co-sponsored by other members of the Winter Haven community.
4. Bok Tower Gardens
Bok Tower Gardens is the perfect day trip for you and your pup. It is a national historic landmark, featuring two hiking trails, 50 acres of gardens, the 20-room Pinewood Estate and the 205-foot art deco and neo-Gothic Singing Tower carillon. Admission for dogs is $5 per animal per day and all dogs must remain on a leash during their visit. FYI: Dogs are not permitted inside Hammock Hollow, Pinewood Estate, the Blue Palmetto Café or The Shop at Bok.
5. Camp Margaritaville RV Resort & Cabana Cabins
Looking for a pet-friendly place to stay on your next trip to Central Florida? Camp Margaritaville RV Resort & Cabana Cabins is the perfect spot! With beautiful dog parks, luxury dog washing stations, and even pet-friendly cabins, your pup is sure to feel included on the family vacation vacation here.
6. Lake Kissimmee State Park
Looking to take a hike and bring your pup with you? Lake Kissimmee State Park offers 13-miles of hiking trails and 6-miles of equestrian trails which showcase white-tailed deer, bobcat, turkey, Sherman’s fox squirrel and grey fox. You may take your pick from a half-mile, self-guided nature trail, two loop trails, and a spur trail out to the lake. While pets are allowed, they must be kept on a hand-held, 6-foot leash at all times and may not be left unattended.
7. Silver Moon Drive-In Theatre
Take your furry best friend on a movie date! Silver Moon Drive-In is a pet-friendly, drive-in movie theatre in Lakeland. They have two screens usually showing first-run movies. Each screen has a double feature seven nights a week. You’ll enjoy listening to the movie through your FM car radio, but they also have in-car speakers available on some rows. Well behaved pets are allowed at the drive-in. If they are outside of your vehicle, they must be on a leash.
8. The Joinery
Bring your pup to this trendy food spot. The Joinery is a modern food hall featuring 7 specialty eateries, full bar and a floral boutique. They are open for lunch and dinner with outdoor patio seating, perfect for you and your four-legged friends.
9. Colt Creek State Park
Bring the dogs along for a camping adventure at Colt Creek State Park in Lakeland and enjoy activities including hiking, kayaking, biking, horseback riding, fishing and more!
