Join the Sunrise Watermelon 5k for an early morning lakefront run in Lakeland!
The Summer Sunrise Watermelon 5k
If you’re trying to stay motivated during these warm summer months, this 5k event is a great way to do it. The Summer Sunrise Watermelon 5k Series is an annual celebration of fitness and competition, and is a great race for experienced and casual joggers alike. The series of summer 5K races will benefit scholarships for local students:

The Course
The race follows the line around Lake Hollingsworth, which is flat and conducive to fast times. The first 1.25 miles of the 5k is on Lake Hollingsworth Dr. The course then transitions to the running path around the lake, before returning the street for the finish. The start will be on Lake Hollingsworth Dr at Jonila.

The event is run by the Lakeland Runners Club, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, that uses proceeds to fund scholarships for local students. Since 2012 the club has awarded a total of $100,000 in scholarships.
