Soccer continues to expand its base in the United States and the growth in interest of the sport is evident in Central Florida’s Polk County. We have two professional teams, under the banner of Florida Tropics SC, who call the county their home pitch. This professional soccer organization hosts games in both Lakeland and Auburndale.
Florida Tropics Games
Indoor Soccer Games
The main team, the Florida Tropics SC of the Major Arena Soccer League, plays indoors at Lakeland’s RP Funding Center. Playing a 24-game schedule, all of these Tropics home games are on the weekends.
Games are played on a footprint similar to a hockey rink – and much smaller than the traditional soccer pitch. Game play includes the walls, giving the game more of a pinball feel than the outdoor game. And with only five players a side plus a goalie, it is a faster, offense-oriented league.

Outdoor Soccer Games
The Tropics SC club plays at the UPSL Pro level in Auburndale at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex. In the 2019 season, the club went 15-0 en route to winning the UPSL National Championship.
