Theatre Winter Haven presents, Once on This Island in July.
This performance is a one-act musical and is based on the 1985 novel My Love, My Love; or, The Peasant Girl by Rosa Guy. The musical is set in the French Antilles archipelago in the Caribbean Sea and it’s about a young girl who uses the power of love to bring people together of different social classes.

Ti Moune, a peasant girl, rescues a wealthy boy from the other side of the island, Daniel, with whom she falls in love. Unbeknownst to Ti Moune, the pompous gods who preside over the island make a bet with one another over which is stronger, love or death, the stakes being Ti Moune’s life.
