World class guest artists will connect with community members of all ages through educational programming and immersive performance events during Lakeland’s Swan City Piano Festival.
The festival’s inaugural year will feature the work of four guest artists, over the course of three days of concerts, masterclasses, and social events. On Thursday, March 26, acclaimed Australian pianist Maxwell Foster will present a program of masterworks of Classical piano repertoire as well as a premiere by Florida State University professor Liliya Ugay. The following evening, Friday, March 27th, boundary-breaking pianist Yvonne Chen will present an exciting program of contemporary piano works, including electronics and extended techniques, featuring a world-premiere by Lakeland native, electronic musician Alexia Riner.
Festival event locations include The Yard on Mass, Polk Museum of Art at Florida Southern College and Lakeland Public Library.
