The 4th Annual Get to Know Colt Creek State Park is hosted by Friends of Colt Creek State Park and is a great event for nature loving families.
The Friends will be serving a BBQ and corn on the cob lunch, sponsored by Mosaic Co., from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
Scheduled Activities between Noon and 4:00 p.m.
- 12:15 Tram Tours every hour beginning at 12:00
 - 1:30-3:00 Guided “Pony” Rides by the Florida Sport Horse Club
 - 1:30 Photography Hike
 - 12:30 & 2:30 Ranger-led Guided Hikes
 
Activities set up for the entire time Noon – 4:00 p.m.
- Up-close & Personal with an Alligator! (a small, juvenile, of course)
 - Butterfly Display & Education
 - Learn about Geocaching
 - Get creative and paint your very own rock – Colt Creek Rocks!
 - Polk Master Gardeners/IFAS Extension of Polk County
 - Nature Tech, Environmental and Conservation Education
 - Sierra Club, Ancient Islands Group, Learning about owls
 - Woodland Wonders, Animal Rehabilitation
 - Nature in Action: Activities by Polk County’s Environmental Lands Program
 - Fishing & Instruction provided by FFWCC
 - Natural High Adventures Fishing Club Youth Contest
 - Canoeing & Kayaking
 - Polk County Waste & Recycling Education
 - Florida Forest Service Fire Fighting Helicopter & Smokey The Bear
 - K-9 Unit Demo-Polk County Sheriff’s Office
 - Fishing equipment provided by FFWCC
 - Hiking, Biking & Horseback Trails on your own with Park Map
