Have the Ultimate Treat at Born & Bread Bakehouse
It’s hard to find an experience quite like a cruffin, cheesecake or biscuit from the amazing Born & Bread Bakehouse. Open on Saturday’s from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., what started as a booth at the Lakeland Farmer’s Curb Market has turned into an early morning rite of passage for Lakelanders. Check it out. Experience Mayfaire-by-the-Lake, a Mother’s Day Tradition
Mayfaire-by-the-Lake is a special Central Florida tradition, and is held on Mother’s Day each year. Hosted by Polk Museum of Art this special free 2-day art event is held every year around the shores of Lake Morton in heart of Downtown Lakeland. This year more than 150 artists will showcase their work.
Coffee at the Bookstore
Lakeland has a wonderful community of independent bookstores, and Pressed Coffee and Books is one of our favorites. Pressed is a great place to relax with Mom with a specially roasted Ethos coffee along with one of their many baked goods, and a good book from their specially curated selection. Combine with the Downtown Farmer’s Curb Market!
Stroll around the Downtown Farmer’s Curb Market
Soak up the atmosphere with a walk around the Downtown Farmer’s Curb Market. This showcase for talents and work of local artisans is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visit the Gardens
For the perfect picture on Mother’s Day, there is simply no-where better than Hollis Garden. Set in front of Lake Morton on Frances Langford Promenade, this botanical display garden set in a neo-classical architectural environment is home to more than 10,000 flowers and ornamental shrubs, shade trees and a grand staircase. Another great outdoor park to spend the day is Bonnet Springs Park. Or if you’d like to go a bit further afield, the beautiful Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales is always a special treat anytime of year.
Dinner in Downtown
Nineteen61, The Terrace Grille or Fresco’s are not only great options for brunch, but also the perfect place for a special Mother’s Day dinner. After you have tried the Vaca Frita or Ropa Vieja at Nineteen61 along with a specially selected glass of wine, you’ll be in heaven.
A Day at the Spa
But maybe Mom would just like to relax. At Streamsong Resort and Spa she will have a treat like no other.
